Summary: Governmental policies aimed at improving public transportation are important to make the service better and more efficient, contain the use of private vehicles and consequently benefit city mobility. Given that perspective, this research is aimed at analyzing the possible increase of speed and the reduction in the travel times of BRT System buses, provided by the utilization of Transit Signal Priority (TSP) technology, making buses more attractive than private vehicles. At first, a literature review of concepts such as Intelligent Technology System e de Transit
Signal Priority was conducted. Next, a microsimulation was designed and run through the PTV Vissim® software, of the traffic on Nossa Senhora da Penha Avenue in Vitória/ES, which is included in the BRT Grande Vitória project, and analyzed three cases: the road as it currently stands, the road with the BRT Grande Vitória project onfiguration and the road with the BRT project running together with the Transit Signal Priority method. The results demonstrated that the implementation of BRT System aligned with the prioritization of traffic control signals improve the performance of buses, reducing travel time and, consequently, increasing their speed, according to the literature.
